DC Tap Water: Clean, Safe, and Affordable

DC Water provides over 100 million gallons of clean, high quality drinking water to our customers in Washington, DC every day. This water comes from the Potomac River and is treated at the Washington Aqueduct, a federally owned drinking water treatment plant. To ensure that our water meets or exceeds federal Safe Drinking Water Act standards as it flows through our pipes, we conduct thousands of water quality tests each year. At DC Water, we are committed to providing drinking water at the lowest possible price while protecting the health of our community.

If you have any questions about the quality of your drinking water, please call our Drinking Water Division at 202-612-3440.
