DC Water leads multi-agency functional exercise for emergency management

DC Water is leading a multi-agency functional exercise this week, simulating a drinking water incident. This exercise is to practice both internal emergency management and coordination with regional partner agencies.

DC Water, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC), Fairfax Water, Prince William County Sanitary Authority, DC Department of Forensic Sciences and the Washington Aqueduct (WAD) are participating.

On Thursday, December 17, members of some of these agencies will conduct sampling from hydrants and businesses in Northwest DC. This sampling will take place in the neighborhood area north and east of Military Road, NW. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN EXERCISE ONLY.
