Open Data Portal

Good data tells a story and informs our decision making. It can also remove some of the mystery about the work we do on behalf of our customers. Here on our Open Data Portal, we invite you to explore the numbers that drive our operations. Go inside our meter replacement project, pinpoint where water main breaks occur, or see which fire hydrants are out of service. If you have any questions about the Portal, please call External Affairs at 202-787-2200 or email externalaffairs@dcwater.com.

DC Water Construction Projects Current And Planned

This dataset is host to a PDF file displaying DC Water’s Capital Improvement Plan Projects (CIP) both current and planned. The dataset is updated when updates are made available, usually on a monthly basis. The information provided is limited to the best available data in DC Water’s possession.

More information about DC Water’s CIP

Our capital improvement plan is measured in the billions. That's the level of investment required to upgrade our water and sewer systems, comply with federal mandates to reduce nutrient discharges and combined sewer overflows to local rivers, and improve the efficiency of our operations. This work is occurring across the city, and by clicking on the blue points shown on map below you can see what's happening in your neighborhood. Please note the field project extent describes the length of project in miles (not all projects contain project extent). For more information please visit https://www.dcwater.com/projects
