Work on Long-Term Rehabilitation of the Potomac Interceptor Continues
Today, DC Water marked the start of work to restore a section of the historic C & O Canal. Construction is underway to rebuild the clay liner which creates a waterproof seal that keeps the canal water from leaking. It’s the next step in the environmental rehabilitation process following the Potomac Interceptor sewer collapse in January.
During the midday hours, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., on Wednesday, October 28, delays are possible on Clara Barton Parkway at the Maryland-DC border. One lane will be closed to allow DC Water to safely deliver equipment for ongoing sewer repairs on the Potomac Interceptor pipeline.
DC Property Owners Encouraged to Check Fire Sprinkler Systems
Just as you routinely check your smoke alarms to make sure they work in an emergency; you should also routinely check your fire sprinkler system. During Fire Prevention Month, DC Water and DC Fire and EMS are encouraging District property owners and managers to report whether they have a fire sprinkler system and if so whether it's working properly.
