Customer Provided Meter Read Procedures

Customers who receive estimated bills can request a technician to read their meter by contacting Customer Service at 202-354-3600. Representatives will work to schedule a visit according to the meter reading schedule. Please be aware that efforts will be made to use the reading for billing purposes; however, there may be situations where the reading cannot be used.

You can also submit a meter read yourself by following the steps below:

  1. Take a clear picture of the meter register including all the dials.
  2. Ensure the picture includes the date/time stamp and the meter ID.
  3. Email the picture to customer.read@dcwater.com.
