Amber Jackson
Amber Jackson serves the Authority as Chief People Officer and EVP, leading the People & Talent team. Her legal experience and understanding of the labor relations process and related legal cases add significant expertise and value to this role.
In her role as Director and Associate General Counsel Ms. Jackson provided legal counsel to DC Water on a variety of matters, including employment law, regulatory compliance, litigation, contracts, and more. She represents DC Water’s interest in various courts and other forums while also managing additional litigation handled by outside counsel.
Prior to joining DC Water, Ms. Jackson worked in private practice advising and representing a variety of companies, organizations, non-profits and governmental entities on various legal matters.
Ms. Jackson is a servant leader, currently serving on the Messiah University Law Council. Most recently she served as Treasurer to the National Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division (2020-2021). Ms. Jackson was previously appointed by the Maryland Court of Appeals to serve on the Maryland State Board of Law Examiners Character Committee (2016-2021). She is a member of multiple bar associations and values giving back. Additionally, Ms. Jackson gives to the larger community by feeding the homeless and volunteering at her local church, former music school and several nonprofit organizations.
Ms. Jackson is the recipient of numerous awards including: the 2022 Young Alumna Achievement Award, the National Bar Association’s 2019 40 Under 40 Award; the Alliance of Black Women Attorneys of Maryland’s 2019 Rising Star Award and the D.C. Courts Pro Bono Honor Roll for work conducted in 2018.
Ms. Jackson is a 2008 graduate of Messiah University where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. In 2012 she obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Ms. Jackson is admitted to practice in: Maryland, United States District Court for the District of Maryland, District of Columbia, United States District Court for the District of Columbia, United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
