DC WASA Seeks Assistance in Clearing Out Catch Basins and Fire Hydrants

February 18, 2010

DC WASA General Manager George S. Hawkins is making a plea to the residents of the District of Columbia to help shovel out fire hydrants and catch basins. Our fire department needs ready access to fire hydrants in an emergency; and melting snow has nowhere to go when our catch basins are blocked, which means it can pool and freeze, creating additional traveling hazards.

This is a great opportunity to perform a significant community service as we all work together to deal with the aftermath of the Blizzard of 2010. Please help make our streets safe!

DC WASA makes available the location of individual catch basins and fire hydrants. Visit the links below to utilize our Google Earth applications to search for the locations of catch basins and hydrants in your neighborhood.
