DC Water Affirms Clean Rivers Construction Plan

February 25, 2020

DC Water recently shared a detailed outline of both the progress made on cleaning waterways but also the authority’s plan to continue with current and future construction. The Clean Rivers project is intended to restore the health of local waterways by diverting combined stormwater and sewage away from the Anacostia and Potomac River and Rock Creek and instead treat it at Blue Plains. In the two years since the first diversion tunnel opening, the project has exceeded expectations and DC Water remains committed to finishing the Northeast Boundary Tunnel and building the Potomac Tunnel.
