WATER MAIN BREAK

October 29, 2004

The District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (WASA) is working on a water main break in Chinatown between 7th and 8th Street NW. Washington Gas was working in the area and accidentally struck a water main.

WASA emergency crews are working to shut off the water main to begin repairing the break. Several restaurants in the area are impacted by this emergency.

It is expected to take several hours to complete the repair and restore full service.

Businesses and residents with problems during this activity can contact the WASA 24-Hour Emergency Hotline at 612-3400

The DC WASA website at www.dcwasa.com will continue to provide updated information about the situation until service is fully restored.
